This year’s theme, Advancing ICT Solutions for Sustainable Development in Africa, served as a powerful call to action, setting the stage for three days of transformative discussions, insightful presentations, and hands-on workshops. Throughout the conference, attendees explored how ICT can be harnessed to address Africa’s unique challenges in economic growth, social inclusion, and long-term sustainability.

Our renowned speakers offered compelling insights into key subthemes, such as strengthening digital infrastructure, the growing impact of AI and Big Data, and the urgent need to tackle cybersecurity and data privacy concerns.

One of the highlights of the event was the exchange of innovative ideas and solutions during panel discussions and networking events, where participants engaged in real-time problem-solving to develop ICT strategies tailored to African needs.     Edward van Niekerk's Contributions

    Edward van Niekerk, Head of Department at Belgium Campus ITversity, has made groundbreaking contributions to deaf empowerment through technology. He developed the evolving ICT Sign Language Dictionary, ensuring continued inclusivity as technology advances.  
     
    Edward also introduced the first bachelor’s degree program for deaf students in South Africa, breaking educational barriers and enabling unprecedented access to higher education. His efforts led to the graduation of six BIT students in one year, two of whom have become ICT lecturers, showcasing the long-term impact of his mentorship. 

    Christopher Lalusha's Contributions

    Christopher Lalusha, Director of Information and Communications Technology at the National Pension Scheme Authority (NAPSA) in Zambia, has made remarkable strides in the digital space across multiple African countries. His achievements at NAPSA revolutionised claim and payment processing, earning him the Digital Champion of the Year title.  
     
    As Group CIO of Fidelity Bank Ghana and Equity Group Holdings in Kenya, Christopher drove digital transformation, cybersecurity, and IT governance, leading to Equity Group’s recognition as the top bank in East Africa. His innovations in cloud strategy and open APIs have set a new standard in ICT. 

    Brian Longwe's Contributions

    Brian Longwe, Co-founder and CEO of Converged Technology Networks, Malawi, has been a pioneer in Africa’s digital infrastructure for over two decades. His work in broadband, fibre networks, and connectivity spans 20 African nations, transforming how millions access the internet.  
     
    Brian has co-founded ISPs across East Africa and established multiple Internet Exchange Points, shaping ICT policies and regulations that enable greater connectivity. His leadership in Public-Private Partnerships and early venture capital projects has cemented his status as a transformative force in Africa’s tech sector.
